SAPS does not recruit via smses

Scammers are inviting ususpecting job seekers to apply for bogus SAPS jobs.

It has come to the attention of the South African Police Service that there is an online recruitment scam currently operating in the country. The scammers are inviting unsuspecting job seekers to apply for bogus ‘Police Trainee Posts’.

The SAPS wishes to advice the public not to fall for such a scam. There has not been any new advertisement from SAPS for entry level trainees and as such there are no vacant posts available for aspiring police officers currently.

Furthermore the SAPS would like to remind the public that we DO NOT advertise any posts via sms. When there are any vacancies in the organisation, posts are advertised in newspapers and the application form is available FOR FREE at all police stations.

“We view this scam in a very serious light and have instituted an investigation to find the perpetrators. Those who have fallen victims of these heartless criminals are urged to contact their nearest police station,” said Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo (National police spokesperson).

If you have been scammed or have information on this issue, phone Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate (Heidelberg Police Station) on 079 694 6801, Warrant Officer Yakub Rasool (Duduza Police Station) on 011 730 4716 or Brigadier Naidoo on 082 567 4153.
