A motorcyclist is lucky to be alive after he drove in to the back of a Ford Escort on the Nigel/Heidelberg road on Saturday.
According to police, the motorcyclist overtook a truck and collided with the Ford. Niklaas Rheeder (30) from Vereeniging sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Heidelberg Hospital.
He was later transferred to Chris Baragwanath Hospital and is still in a semi coma.
According to his farther Daniël, his son was on his way to visit him in Springs when the accident happened.
Heidelberg police has opened a reckless and negligent driving docket.
