Sad goodbye as High School principal bids farewell

NIGEL - For 33 years, Ina Dolinschek has been involved in the education profession.

She spent the last 22 years at Nigel High School, but is stepping down at the end of the year to enter retirement.

Before she became principal of the school in January 2011, she taught Social Science. She was appointed deputy principal in 2000 and acting principal in the latter part of 2010. Over the years, she navigated the school through difficult times, succeeding in making it an oasis of education.

Though sad to leave, Mrs Dolinschek said she was leaving with a sense of pride, knowing that during her tenure at the school, she was able to secure scholarships and further educational opportunities for numerous learners. Mrs Dolinschek will however, not be completely lost to education as she will be helping out at the school from time to time.

She expressed her gratitude to fellow colleagues, past and current learners, parents, Student Governing Body (SGB) members and the community for the input in her successes and achievements.

“I have countless memories of people and events. The journey has been eventful and filled with memories of wonderful learners, parents and colleagues who enriched my working and personal life,” the mother of two said.

She applauded staff members, saying she is constantly in awe of the level of professionalism they show each day in the performance of their chosen career. Her future plans include full time gardening.

“I am passionate about gardening and cooking and I look forward to the road ahead,” Mrs Dolinschek said.

Deputy principal, Mrs I Jwambi described her colleague as consistent, responsible, loyal and meticulous.

“She promotes growth and responsibility to her colleagues and has always remained professional,” she said.

Staff at Nigel High School bid her farewell with the following message:

“May the memories you built at the school, bring laughter and joy. You left your mark and made a huge contribution in learners’ lives. Enjoy every minute of your retirement.”

A new principal will be appointed by the Department of Education in January.
