Ratanda Police are warning the community about hijackers next to the road pretending to be hitchhikers.
They offer the driver money to take them to a said destination and hijack them on the way.
According to Constable Xolani Mkhize (spokesperson: Ratanda Police Station) most of these incidents occur when the drivers leave taverns or shebeens and are on their way home. He however says few cases are being reported which makes it hard on police to investigate.
He warns the community to not try to be heroes and confront or resist the criminals as they are almost always armed and dangerous. Criminal activities can be reported at Ratanda Police Station on 016 343 6000.
