The EMM is resolute to deliver this message since it embarked on a weeklong campaign to educate people about the importance of saving water around Nigel.
Duduzile Mthembu is one of the first students of the EMM save water class. She has been enduring a blocked drain system for months until February 11 when the EMM visited her.
After receiving tips on how to save water and prevent drain blockages she admitted to not having adequate knowledge in this regard.
“I did not know that I was the cause of this blockage. Going forward I will be extra careful and follow the instruction on the pamphlet of what not to throw down the drain and the toilet”, she said.
“We appeal to residents to co-operate with the team that is sent out to identify leaks and blockages outside of their homes. It is both in the interest of the residents and the municipality”, Spokesperson of EMM Themba Gadebe said.
The campaign is expected to conclude at the end of February.
