Burglars escaped with plasma television sets after cutting open the front security gate of a department store.
Lewis in First Avenue suffered its second burglary in three months on February 8 when burglars raided the store.
Emis Security arrived at the scene within 10 minutes after the alarm was triggered and noticed a yellow Volkswagen Passat as well as a pedestrian carrying a television set, fleeing the scene.
SAPS Nigel’s spokesperson W/O Madeleine von Wielligh said it is possible that the burglary could be linked to a syndicate.
The estimated loss is R150 000 with no arrests yet been made.
The store suffered a previous burglary on November 12 when burglars broke open the same gate and raided the store. The estimated loss was R50 000 in electronic equipment.
Nigel Police ask residents to be vigilant at all times and to report any suspect behaviour on 011 812 6500.
