Burglars target Superspar at The Angelo Mall

Burglars stole an estimated R1.5 million worth of products and cash after they broke in at the Superspar at The Angelo Mall during the night on November 2.

Burglars stole an estimated R1.5 million worth of products and cash after they broke in at the Superspar at The Angelo Mall during the night on November 2.
According to SAPS Nigel spokesperson W/O Madeleine von Wielligh, the burglars gained access to the store after they broke open a section of the roof and entered the cold storage unit.
“The burglars managed to cut the power supply to the alarm system before entering the store which can explain why sensor beams did not signal the alarm”, W/O Von Wielligh said.
The burglars also cut all power supply to the surveillance cameras and left minimal traces behind of their movement during the burglary.
“They escaped the same way they entered the store with electronic devices, a large portion of cigarette stock and cash worth an estimate of R1.5million”, W/O Von Wielligh said.
SAPS Nigel officers arrived shortly after receiving a report of the burglary at 06:15.
Superspar owner Savvas Georgiou said investigations by SAPS Nigel into the burglary were at a very sensitive stage and declined to comment on the case for fear of jeopardising the investigation.
