Cambridge still on top

The team won their latest match on August 22.

The Cambridge Football Club faced off against the First Touch Galaxy Football Club from Alra Park on August 22 at the Jim Fouché Stadium.

No spectators were allowed due to Covid regulations.

“The match was intense,” said Cambridge coach Ignatius Maphike.

“Cambridge dominated the ball position by circling the ball around the field.”

The First Touch team did not stand back and kept the Cambridge players on their toes.

Banele Mduli from Cambridge scored a goal just before half-time.

“The second half was much more aggressive,” Maphike continued.

“The opposition pushed us into our own half.

“Cambridge made one change to the game to take off the pressure and push more forward, but the order of the day was wasted opportunities.

“I am happy to walk away with the three points we have on the log.

“We could have won with more goals if the boys took their chances, but all the credit must go to the opposing team.

“It is their first season in the league and they are placed second on the log. They are young and hungry and I look forward to seeing them play in the future.”
