Nigel High School renames hostel

The Nigel High School Hostel was renamed to the Potso Mohajane Residence, in honour of the former school governing body chairperson Potso Mohajane.

The Nigel High School Hostel was renamed to the Potso Mohajane Residence, in honour of the former school governing body chairperson Potso Mohajane.
The school’s governing body (SGB), teachers and learners participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedicated the 55-year-old building to Potso on February 13.
“This is an appropriate tribute to an outstanding leader, not only for the learners, but also for the community”, Nigel High School’s principal Mrs Ina Dolinschek said.
Potso is a seasoned labour relations and customer service professional with a verifiable year after year success in private and government turnaround strategies. With extensive experience in developing processes and systems for municipalities and municipal entities, he was hired as senior client services manager for Rand Water under the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality in 2003.
In 2010 he was elected chairperson for Epilepsy South Africa where he represented the country at international congresses in Berlin and Switzerland.
Potso became involved with Nigel High School in 2010 when he registered his daughter Jessica as a learner and resident at the hostel which serves as a home away from home for 100 learners.
He was elected chairperson of the SGB in 2013.
“Potso brought a new dimension to the SGB with his outstanding leadership qualities and played a key role in the execution of our school’s 50th anniversary in May 2013”, Ina said.
“This is truly overwhelming, but I want to pay tribute to the people who are responsible for me to receive this honour. I am referring to my daughters Jessica and Karabo. Their support and encouragement helped me make difficult decisions and better understanding the needs of the learners”, Potso said.
As a client services expert, Potso facilitates the Namibian Department of Transport and moved his professional interests to Windoek earlier this year.
Jessica matriculated in 2014 with Karabo completing Grade 9 and will relocate with her father.
