Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have shown to cause an increase in stress levels.

The primary aim of a holiday is to reduce stress levels as much as possible.

People use the holidays to get out of busy cities and away from work to relieve stress, and d oing the same with social media might make your holiday less stressful.

Also, taking a break from your phone means more time spent with family.

Here are some ways to take a break from social media:

•First, decide how long you want your break to be
This might be from the moment you leave the office to the first week of work, or you might go a full year.
• Chose which networks you want to take a break from.
The best way to decide this is to consider which one causes you the most stress or takes up most of your time.
• Let your friends and family know you will be taking a break, lest they think you have chosen to ignore them.
• If you are not ready to entirely stop using these platforms, you can limit your time using them

Smartphones and computers gauge how much time is spent on one particular app or website, and a setting can be made that limits your time spent. So cutting down to one hour a day could be a starting point.

This process will prove difficult to many but time away can be used to relax, engage in old hobbies and catch up with family and friends.
