With the festive holidays near, many people will be spoiling themselves and their families with holiday trips and shopping, while stokvel groups will withdraw and share their yearlong savings.

Bank card safety tips

• Memories your PIN and store your card safely. Never keep your PIN and your card together.

• Always watch your card at all till points, make sure you get your card back after every purchase.

• Never trust strangers or ask them for help at an ATM.

• Request for privacy when the person behind you in the queue is too close while you enter your PIN or use the ATM.

• Treat your contactless card as cash, always keep it secure.

• You can temporarily block, stop or replace your card anytime using your banking app.

• The bank will never ask you to share your PIN to maintain your card or transaction limits via telephone or email.

• While shopping, do not place your handbag in the trolley, rather wrap your handbag around your neck, shoulder or wrist.

• Do not carry large sums of money.

• If you are bugged by an unwanted caller, simply put the phone down without saying anything.
