Karate students perform at South Gauteng Championships

The karate students performed well at the recent South Gauteng Championships in Benoni.

A group of students from the Tenshinkan Karate Club in Nigel recently took part in the South Gauteng Championships in Benoni.

“All of our students did well,” said sensei Leon Gagiano of the club.

“I am very proud of their performance.”

The students’ results were as follows:

• Monique Pratt placed third in kata of the black belt division.

• Ywanke Engelbrecht placed second in kata and kumite of the orange belt division.

• Leone Gagiano placed first and second in kata and kumite of the blue and brown belt division

• Illze Pratt placed third in kumite of the black belt division.

• Ingrid Lombard placed second in kata and kumite of the white belt division.

• Levi Starkey placed first and second in kumite and kata in the white belt division.

• Nikia Solomon placed first in kata and kumite of the white belt division.

• Alexander Holtshauzen placed second in kumite in the white belt division.

• Bandile Zwane placed first and second in kata and kumite of the white belt division.

• Giovanni de Nazare placed first and second in kumite and kata of the white belt division.

• Zayne Koekemoer placed second and third in kata and kumite of the orange belt division.
