Woman abducted in Heidelberg

The woman was hitchhiking when the men abducted her.

A 31-year-old woman was abducted near the Caltex garage on the R23 on September 18 around 12:00.

The woman was hitchhiking to Standerton when two men began walking with her.

An unidentified red vehicle stopped next to them and the three hitchhikers got in.

According to the woman, there were two more men in the vehicle, the driver and the passenger.

The driver indicated they needed petrol and turned towards Rensburg.

At this point, the front passenger took out a gun and pointed it at the woman and one of the men who had earlier accompanied her slapped her across the face.

The woman then realised the men were in cahoots.

They demanded her bank cards and PINs, and the woman complied.

When the woman informed the men there was no money in the account, they stopped in an open field and she was taken out of the vehicle and forced into some bushes.

One of the men undressed her, taking her clothes, wallet and cellphone, before tying her hands with a steel wire and covering her with tree branches.

When the men left her, the woman waited for a few minutes before she ran to the street, where she met an old man who untied her and called the police.

The woman was taken to the Heidelberg Police Station, where she opened a case. She can identify the men.

Anyone with any information regarding the perpetrators is urged to contact Heidelberg SAPS on 016 341 0343, 016 341 0361 or 016 341 0350.
