WATCH: Emile excited about new music video

Emile Welman releases music video for Sprokiesland.

Emile Welman, a former member of the group Overtone and popular South African singer, composer and songwriter who currently lives in California, recently made headlines when he decided to visit the country to release an Afrikaans love song and film a brand-new music video.

Sprokiesland was well received and immediately got playlisted on some of the biggest radio stations in South Africa.

To celebrate the success of the song, he decided to spoil South Africans with the release of a beautiful music video before returning to America.

This love story was filmed by Vonk Musiek’s talented producer, Wian van der Walt, at the Van Wyngaard residence in Elspark with its beautiful grand piano.

Emile and Ashley du Toit worked hard to come up with the perfect concept to convey the message of the song in the best way possible.

“I wanted an old-school video, so we used old Frank Sinatra-type films as references,” he said.

In this romantic and intimate music video, the main character writes a song for the woman in his life (played by Tracey Kroukamp) about when they met and sings it to her in their living room.

The video is the perfect match for the impressive pop track, which was originally inspired by Emile’s late father.

“In July 2019, my dad was diagnosed with stage four liver cancer. I had been living in the United States for almost 10 years and had returned to South Africa only once or twice a year,” said Emile.

“My dad loved Afrikaans music and I wanted to write something that he would like and appreciate. So, I wrote the song hoping to get it recorded and playing on the radio as soon as possible. Unfortunately, my dad died before he could hear the song, but I am determined to still make him proud.”

With this captivating video and song, Emile has ensured that he will not be forgotten by the people of his country.

Sprokiesland has already won over the local music market and fans will insist on him returning to spoil them with more good music.

Sprokiesland is available for download on all digital platforms.
