N3TC going the extra mile at Midmar this weekend

N3 Toll Concession will partner the organisers of the annual aQuelle Midmar Mile this weekend to help keep swimmers safe in the water and on the road.

The toll concession company, managing the N3 Toll Route between Heidelberg in Gauteng and Cedara in KwaZulu-Natal, will be focusing their support efforts on the safety of swimmers.
“We are committed to providing a safe road for participants to travel on and have extended this to supporting their safety in the water at this key event. N3TC has contributed towards funding the water safety component of the aQuelle Midmar Mile to ensure that any swimmers who may experience difficulty in the water get the best assistance as quickly as possible,” says Andy Visser, N3TC Marketing Manager.
The water safety plans that the Midmar Mile organisers have put in place are comprehensive.  This includes the provision of 100 lifeguards and the support of the Navy and SAPS Search and Rescue teams who will be on standby to assist should the need arise.  “These services will be complemented by the brightly branded N3TC Chill Zone, which will be located at a strategic point
near the water’s edge to provide a central point where swimmers who have experienced problems can meet-up with their loved ones,” continued Visser.
This year, N3TC is pleased to announce that the company has managed to secure the services of a qualified Clinical Psychologist who will be on standby at the venue on both days to provide support in the event of a traumatic incident.
“The peace of mind knowing that a qualified professional will be available to assist should the need arise is immense,” says Visser.
Besides keeping swimmers safe in the water, N3TC will continue to focus its main efforts on keeping travellers safe on the N3 Toll Route. Peak traffic conditions are expected on the road this weekend, especially during Friday late afternoon and again on Sunday afternoon.
Motorists are warned to be alert in sections where road works are underway, particularly between Estcourt and Mooi River. The road works should not have a major impact on traffic flow, but minor delays could be expected at peak times.
Road users are advised to plan ahead for their trips this weekend. The latest road and traffic conditions for the N3 Toll Route can be obtained from the 24-hour N3TC Route Control Centre on 0800 63 4357 (0800 N3 HELP) or talk to N3TC on Twitter @N3Route. “Being informed helps you to avoid unexpected problems on your journeys,” explains Visser.
Should you experience any difficulties along the N3 Toll Route help can be accessed by contacting the N3TC Route Control Centre. One of N3TC’s six Route Patrol Teams will be dispatched to assist you. These highly trained teams of emergency
specialists are geared to provide help at emergencies, crash scenes and vehicle breakdowns. They can provide basic emergency medical care, assist with fire-fighting, remove hazardous objects from the road and provide regular route patrols to ensure conditions along the N3 Toll Route remain as safe as possible.
N3TC wishes everyone traveling on the roads and all swimmers competing in the Midmar Mile an enjoyable and safe experience.
