Back-to-school Youth Day celebrations

Prosperity Mpofu read a poem for the staff members as part of Youth Day celebrations.

The Nic Bottari Toyota team celebrated Youth Day on June 15 by dressing in school uniforms.

Members of staff could dress in their old school uniforms as a reminder to today’s youth of the importance of education.

“We wanted to reprimand and teach,” explained Bekile Ndobe, one of the staff members.

“It is about grooming our children to become better leaders and parents in the future, and for that, you need an education.

“We dressed in our old school uniforms to show where we come from and remind our children that we were once also children.”

Ndobe invited poet Prosperity Mpofu (22) to celebrate the day with them by reading a poem for the staff.

The poem titled Dear Parents centred largely around the struggles of today’s youth.

“I want to see the youth doing great for themselves. I want the youth to be responsible and independent,” said Mpofu.

“I wrote the poem for parents to tell their children. If you work hard, you will reap prosperity and stability.”
