It’s Friday. Woo hoo. Time for a cocktail

We’ve found five amazingly moreish cocktails, all made with Absolut Watermelon … is a perfectly balanced combo of crystal clear vodka and fresh, natural watermelon sweetness. It beautifully lends itself to easy-to-mix drinks and is super versatile in cocktails. Here are a few options to spark your creativity at home:    

ABSOLUT WATERMELON SPRITZ

Absolut Watermelon has a rich, smooth taste profile with the distinct character of watermelon juice, complemented with underlying hints of spiciness that ends up in a creamy and juicy mouthfeel. This makes it ideal to be combined with sparkling wine for a light and fruity spritz. You’ll need: 30ml Absolut Watermelon, 90 ml sparkling wine, watermelon cubes, 5ml simple syrup To make: Muddle the watermelon cubes into a shaker and add the vodka and the simple syrup. Fine strain into a wine glass and top it up with sparkling wine. Garnish with a slice of watermelon and mint sprig.    

ABSOLUT WATERMELON AND TONIC

A refreshing take on the classic G&T, and the perfect drink for a sunny afternoon around the braai, any time of the year. You’ll need: 45ml Absolut Watermelon, 90ml tonic To make:  Pour both the ingredients in a glass and add ice to the top. Garnish with a slice of watermelon and lemon wheel.    

ABSOLUT WATERMELON MARTINI

The Martini: Clean. Classy. Oh, so classic. Absolut Watermelon has a slightly reduced abv (38%) which allows for a truly optimised flavour profile and balance. Served in a Martini glass and shaken (not stirred) allows it to truly shine and for you to enjoy with all your senses. You’ll need: 45ml Absolut Watermelon, 20 ml simply syrup,  watermelon cubes To make: Crush watermelon cubes in bottom of shaker. Add cubes of ice and all ingredients. Shake hard and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a watermelon slice.    

ABSOLUT WATERMELON PUNCH

If there is a better way to celebrate sunshine and good times than with a crisp punch, we are yet to find it. It’s great now, before the weather turns to chilly. You’ll need: 150ml Absolut Watermelon, 20 watermelon cubes, 150ml lemon juice, 50ml simple syrup To make:  Put watermelon cubes into a blender to get freshly squeezed juice and strain it into a pitcher. Pour the vodka, lemon juice and simple syrup and add ice to the top. Serve cold and garnish with a watermelon slice and lime wedge.  

ABSOLUT WATERMELON AND COLA

Vodka and cola is a tried and trusted go-to drink for many. The addition of the smooth watermelon flavour adds a whole new dimension to this long-standing favourite. It’s the ideal mix with which to add a new level of flavour to your ‘usual.’ You’ll need:  45ml Absolut Watermelon, 90 ml Coke To make:  Pour both the ingredients in a glass and add ice to the top. Garnish with a slice of watermelon and lime wedge on top.
