School life just got better

Ratanda Primary School kicked the year off with a celebratory event during which Lunga Nxele and Phillip Xaba donated 125 desks and 250 chairs to accommodate 250 learners in the classrooms.

The event took place on January 15 and was attended by members of the ward council, members of the school governing body (SGB) and learners. Nxele said that they responded to the outcries from the Public Alignment Forum and the SGB.

“We felt it would be a great opportunity for us to become involved in such a heart-warming initiative. Our company saw it suitable that we donate desks and chairs to schools that need it,” Nxele said.

Learners were overjoyed and showed their appreciation by singing songs to the SGB and ward councillors during the hand-over. Dimakatso Mokoena (chairperson: SGB) said that the school is appreciative of the incentive by Nxele and Xaba.

“We want to thank Phillip Xaba and Lunga Nxele for their contribution and showing that they care about our school,” she said. “We intend to continue with similar initiatives and sow seeds of education for young South Africans. A big thank you to Timothy Mashinini (principal) for his efforts in bettering the lives of his learners,” Nxele concluded.
