LLM, Shoprite both deny responsibility to fix water leak

So while nobody wants to take responsibility, the water continues to run down the main street in Heidelberg.

There is an ongoing water shortage in South Africa that might cause us to have a critical water shortage in 2030, but it seems that not everyone is taking the threat as serious as they should.

On May 15 it was brought to the attention of HERAUT that a water pipe in the parking area of Shoprite in Voortrekker Street has been leaking for about two months.

“Water surfaces from below and flows down the parking area. It really gets bad in the early morning,” a resident said.

Mirna Mulder (Lesedi Local Municipality Councillor for Ward 8) said that the Town Council has been approached about the situation, but apparently the water leakage is the management team of Shoprite’s problem, because the leakage is on Shoprite’s premises.

Shoprite refuses to take responsibility for the water leakage, because the parking area is “technically not on their premises,” explained a manager at Shoprite.

So while nobody wants to take responsibility, the water continues to run down the main street in Heidelberg.
