Two men were arrested for possession of stolen Sassa cards and money laundering on Sunday afternoon after members of the Ekurhuleni flying squad reacted to a tip-off from National Crime Intelligence.
The arrests took place at around 1pm when Seargent Shashapa Mokoena and Constable Matome Khosa, who were conducting routine patrols, received information about a silver Toyota Fortuner that was last seen leaving Randburg.
It is alleged that the vehicle was hired and belonged to a car rental company at OR Tambo airport.
While conducting their search inside the car police found two laptops, one finger print scanner, one photo copy machine, 240 Sassa cards (new and used) and R261 920.00 in cash.
Further investigations into the use of the finger print scanner and the Sassa cards are underway.
The suspected, aged between 32 and 42, were expected to appear in court soon.
