Bail application for Mastrogiuseppe’s murder accused’s postponed

The two suspects briefly appeared in Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court on December 10, where they applied for bail.

HEIDELBERG – The two suspects accused of murdering 69-year-old Raffaele Mastrogiuseppe in a farm attack at his house outside Heidelberg on October 3.

The two suspects briefly appeared in Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court on December 10, where they applied for bail. The bail application was postponed until January 31.

What happened that fateful night was that a security guard had reportedly noticed a number of vehicles driving around the farm property around 02:00 and immediately flagged down a patrolling police vehicle on the Balfour Road to investigate the suspect movement.

Upon arrival, police found one of the suspects inside Mastrogiuseppe’s car on the property, while he was attempting to flee the scene with the victim’s car. Shortly thereafter, Mastrogiuseppe’s body was found inside the house. He was shot in the upper body and died as a result of his injuries.

A second suspect was later arrested in Ratanda, where police recovered a number of stolen items, an unlicensed firearm and two getaway cars.

The suspects were among other charges of possession of stolen property, possession of an unlicensed firearm, also charged with murder.
