Greasy substance causes accidents on off ramp
A slippery substance on the off ramp from the R23 and HF Verwoerd Street, Heidelberg caused two accidents.
Five vehicles were involved in two accidents on the R23 off ramp towards HF Verwoerd Street this morning at around 08:00. According to one of the witnesses, the front vehicle applied brakes at the stop street when his vehicle started to slide. Two other vehicles behind the first one also started to slide and they bumped into each other. Minutes after the first accident, a bakkie behind also slid into the back of a truck.
No one was seriously injured and Lesedi Fire and Rescue covered the substance (believed to be some sort of animal fat) with sand.
