Community members discover body in Ratanda

It is suspected the victim was sexually assaulted and possibly strangled.

The Ratanda SAPS is investigating a case of murder after passers-by discovered the body of a woman early in the morning in Ext 23 on September 7.

“The Ratanda SAPS arrived at the scene on Zitha Street and found community members who pointed out the area where the body was discovered,” explained Sergeant Moss Maluleke, the corporate communications officer.

“The victim was naked, and various injuries were visible on her body.”

The EMS declared the victim deceased.

The victim has been since identified, and it is suspected she was the victim of a sexual assault and possibly strangled.

A case of murder and rape was opened.
