Keeping an eye on the safety of holiday makers during the Easter long weekend, Vereeniging SAPS Cluster had a roadblock along the N3 just outside Heidelberg on March 24. Amongst the units that took part are the Vaalrand K9 dog unit, Vaalrand mounted (horse) unit, Eastrand Flying Squad, cluster social crime prevention coordinators and communication officers.
Travellers were surprised by friendly police officers who handed out gifts and sweets for the children and safety hint pamphlets to the adults.
