Rising crime worries Devon SAPS

Residents are encouraged to report all crimes to the SAPS.

The Devon SAPS hosted a community engagement meeting on November 3 to address the escalating crime in Devon Sector 1.

The areas of concern are residential and business burglaries, burglaries of vacant premises and vandalism to properties in the area.

The meeting sought to find solutions on how to deal with criminal activities.

The community was encouraged to report all crimes so the SAPS could launch proper investigations.

The community also asked SAPS members to do regular nightly patrols to prevent crimes from taking place.

Devon SAPS station commander Warrant Officer Mbongiseni Zwane thanked the community members present for their commitment to stopping crime.

“Do not try to be heroes. It is dangerous,” he emphasised.

“Let the SAPS deal with the criminals, and do not take the law into your own hands.”
