Cambridge FC starts league with win

Cambridge FC faced Tsakane Saint Germain FC in the first league match.

Cambridge FC kickstarted their SAB Hollywood Bets league with a match against Tsakane Saint Germain FC on November 4.

The match at the Tsakane Stadium saw the Cambridge team in their new maroon league jerseys.

“The Cambridge boys started the game slowly,” said Cambridge FC chairperson Ignatius Maphike.

“They found it difficult to settle into a rhythm with the rain during the match and lost possession of the ball easily.”

The team found their rhythm not long after the start of the match and got their first goal during a corner kick.
Cambridge player and midfielder Philasande Yende netted the ball with a headshot.

The first half ended 1-0 for the Cambridge team.

During the second half, the Cambridge team scored a second goal through Lucky Ndlovu.

In the 80th minute, the Cambridge team was awarded a penalty after a foul by the Tsakane Saint Germain goalkeeper.

Cambridge captain Kgotso Makhura scored the team’s final goal, and the team won with a final score of 3-0.
“We will take this win away from home,” said head coach Boere Sithathu.

“But there is still a lot to work on and improve.”

“We are happy with the win,” Maphike concluded.

“The boys will get used to the new environment and playing at this high level.”
