Water supply interruption

Water shortages forseen in Heidelberg.

Heidelberg is facing more water interruptions.

Heidelberg has been crippled with water issues over the last few months, resulting in dry reservoirs for long periods of time.

The City of Ekurhuleni is planning a water shutdown on August 25 for planned maintenance. The switchgear will be serviced during that time.

The maintenance at the Mapleton booster station will start at 09:00 till about 17:00.

The reservoirs of Brakpan, Selcourt and Wildebeestfontein will be severely affected. Selcourt reservoir supplies Heidelberg with its water supply.

The estimation is that the areas will be without water for around two to three weeks for the reservoirs to fully recover their water supply after the maintenance.

Lesedi Local Municipality spokesperson Katleho Seaaga has urged businesses and residents to make the needed arrangements to have water on standby during the difficult times.

Municipal manager Sibisiso Dlamini has requested that residents use water sparingly and that those with boreholes assist in supplying water to the community as an act of goodwill.
