Protesters called to action to hand over memorandum at Gibela Rail construction site

NIGEL - Hundreds of protesters were called to action at the Gibela Rail construction site outside Dunnottar today.

The peaceful protest was arranged by Golden Miles Bhudu from GRENNUP and Tebogo Rakgabyane from Unemployed People’s Co-operative Federation SA (UPCFSA) and saw around 200 local job seekers participating in the march from Dunnottar to the building site.

The purpose of the march was to hand over a memorandum of demands to representatives from Gibela Rail, Trencon Construction Mpy and Nigel Department of Labour.

A heavy police and metro police appearance was present during the march and handover process, which remained peaceful until the end.
