The six gymnasts represented Nigel at both the Gauteng Provincial competition and the SA Games.

Several gymnasts of the Nigel Gymnastics Club represented Ekurhuleni on September 9 and September 10 at the Gauteng Provincial competition.

The competition was held in Pretoria at the Matsport Centre.

All six gymnasts competed and qualified to represent Gauteng at the SA games that were held in the October school holidays.

The gymnasts who competed were: Alyssa Maritz (level six), Kaylee de Bruyne (level five), Ami Oosthuizen (level five), Alessia Bonaretti (level four), Rene Vogel (level four) and Amoré Bosch (level four).

The best club results at the provincial competition were:

• Rene Vogel placed third on vault, floor and third overall.

• Ami Oosthuizen placed 10th overall.

• Alyssa Maritz place sixth overall.

“All six gymnasts also represented Nigel and Gauteng proudly at the SA Games where gymnasts from all over South Africa representing their provinces competed,” said Charlene Maritz of the club.

“There were just under 3000 gymnasts competing in the Women’s Artistic Competition held over five days in Pretoria.

“Our Gymnasts gave a strong performance and we are looking forward to the new season.”
