Burglars get away with television sets

NIGEL - A business burglary occurred at Lewis Furnishers Nigel in the early hours of January 22.

According to police spokesperson W/O Madeleine von Wielligh, the security alarm was activated around 05:30.

Upon arrival of the armed response unit from a private security company, they discovered forced entry was gained through the front doors and that a number of television sets had been stolen – some were damaged during the burglary. The estimated value of the damaged and stolen items amounts to around R70 000. A case of business burglary is being investigated by the police.
In Visagiepark, burglars made off with stolen property worth around R12 000 after a residential break-in. The burglary took place between 18 and 20 January, during which time the owners had been out of town. Upon their return, they discovered that the security gate was forced open and the door unlocked.

They further discovered that their sound system, flatscreen television set and a wrist watch were missing. They reported the burglary to Nigel SAPS and police are investigating the break-in.
