Grocery store falls prey to robbers again

The Rensburg store has been robbed twice in recent weeks.

On May 14, an armed robbery took place at a grocery store on AG Visser Street, Rensburg.

It was the second time the store has been targeted in recent weeks.

According to reports, four men entered the store. While two of them walked around the shop, the others approached the owner and his cousin, who were standing behind the counter and threatened them with firearms.
The robbers took R14 000 in cash, cigarettes valued at R10 000 and a cellphone.

Assistance from AfriForum Heidelberg and the Rensburg CPF was requested. They searched the streets in the area for the culprits when a community member saw the men running away. With the help of a family member, he managed to apprehend one.

The man was kept in their custody until SAPS arrived and he was handed to them.

A firearm was found in the man’s possession. His three accomplices are still at large.

SAPS Heidelberg is appealing to the community to come forward with information regarding the robbery.
