Devon SAPS holds awareness campaign

Crime and illegal liquor sales brought into focus.

On April 13, Devon SAPS, Lesedi Liquor Board, DTIC and the Department of Community Safety held a liquor meeting and conducted a crime awareness campaign.

The campaign was aimed at educating the community about crime in the area and illegal liquor sales.

“Devon SAPS is facing challenges of three main crimes, namely business robberies, rape and hijackings,” said Capt Thokozile Ndou from Devon SAPS.

Part of the campaign was conducted at the Devon Magistrate’s Court. Pamphlets were distributed to the community as part of the awareness and knowledge campaign.

“Community engagement is essential, as it serves as a major boost in crime prevention. Informing the police of any criminal activities helps to create a safer environment,” added Ndou.
