There will be a series of canoe marathons hosted by clubs affiliated to the Gauteng Canoe Union (GCU) leading up to the Gauteng Canoe Marathon Championship, where a team will be selected to represent the province at the SA Canoe Marathon Championship.
The dates are:
• Event 1 at Johannesburg Canoe Club at Wemmer Pan on April 24
• Event 2 at Florida Lake Canoe Club on May 8
• Event 3 at East Rand Kayak Club at Benoni Homestead Dam on May 15
• Event 4 at Dabulamanzi Canoe Club at Emmarentia Dam on May 22
The Gauteng event will take place at Germiston Lake, hosted by the Victoria Lake Canoe Club on May 27 and 28, where the team to represent Gauteng at the SA championships will be announced.
The championships will take place at the Hazelmere Dam in KwaZulu-Natal.
