Duduza SAPS promotes human rights

Members of the Duduza SAPS and their stakeholders celebrated human rights.

Members of the Duduza SAPS and their stakeholders took part in a human rights campaign on March 19.

The campaign was held to take a stand against crime and to celebrate human rights as the cornerstones of democracy in South Africa.

The aim was to raise awareness of GBV, hijackings and property and contact crimes that are currently on the rise in the area.

Stakeholders included the Department of Community Safety, the CPF, the youth desk, the Victim Empowerment Centre under Lifeline, structures of men and women safety promotors as well as GBV Brigades.

The campaign was carried out simultaneously at three strategic points within the Duduza policing area where the stakeholders engaged with the community.

“This was the first campaign of its kind,” said Sgt Harry Manaka, communications officer at Duduza SAPS.

“The campaign sought to drive the message directly to people in the affected areas.”

The Duduza SAPS station commander, Lt Col Sarah Mofokeng, appreciated the efforts and collaboration by all stakeholders and reiterated the importance of working together to ensure that all are safe.
