101-Year-old Gogo from MacKenzieville receives new house

To complete the homely look and feel at Ngozo’s house, a row of fruit trees, comprising of banana, apple, mango, and avocado trees were planted in her garden.

NIGEL – The executive mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) Mzwandile Masina, together with the chairman of Afribiz Invest Collen Mashawana handed over a fully furnished house to a 101-year-old Gogo Sara Ngozo at McKenzieville Extension 2 on December 10.

“Gogo Sara Ngozo’s days of living in a dilapidated old shack is a thing of the past, after the mayor and Afribiz Invest responded to her plight. She is now the proud owner of a three-bedroom house that has a bathroom, lounge, kitchen and wall fence,” municipal spokesperson Themba Gadebe said.

The Collen Mashawana Foundation also gifted Ngozo with an amount of
R10 000 cash.

According to Gadebe, Ngozo could not contain her excitement when she received her brand new house and spontaneously broke into tears of joy.

“I don’t even know what to say. All I expected was just a brick and mortar house and I never knew that it would come with a proper bed. I have not slept on a new bed in ages. This is beautiful, thank you all,” Ngozo said.

To complete the homely look and feel at Ngozo’s house, a row of fruit trees, comprising of banana, apple, mango, and avocado trees were planted in her garden. She will be moving into her new house together with her two children (aged 70 years and 68 years respectively).
