Kickboxers deliver stellar performance at national championships
14 Members of Nigel Kickboxing and Self Defence Centre competed in the South African Kickboxing Championships in Pretoria on 5 and 6 May.
Many of the yellow and orange belt students participated in open belt divisions and still took first place, while others delivered a stellar performance in the full contact ring division.
Diwan Groenewald took first place in his weight division and Pieter Groenewald was second in his weight division.
Sensei Jaun Naude said he could not be more proud of the group of students who participated in the national championships.
“They worked hard during the last few months – first they participated in the Eastern Gauteng championships from where they moved on to the Great North trials and finally the nationals. They were well prepared and all their hard work paid off in the end,” he said.
The team returned with six national titles, nine silver medals and three bronze medals overall.
