Heidelberg Court clerk allegedly murdered by ex-boyfriend

He planned to set her on fire but instead stabbed her to death.

The ex-boyfriend of Gloria Mpanza (48) wanted to set her on fire in the early hours of Sunday morning. Her neighbour came to her rescue, managed to grab the bottle of petrol and ran away. When the neighbour returned (after being chased by the suspect) she found the victim’s lifeless body in the street outside her Ratanda home in Mayisa Crescent.

 

She was stabbed to death.

 

Mpanza was a clerk of Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court.      

 

Captain Thivhulawi Tshilate (spokesman) of Heidelberg SAPS said the incident happened around 02:00. Police had to chase after the suspect. They went to his home and employed the help of the fire department to broke open the door.

 

Blood was found in the suspect’s house, but he was not there.

 

 

Police managed to locate his whereabouts and he was arrested for murder.

 

He appeared in court on April 3 and the case was postponed for further investigation.
