Photo Gallery: Heidelberg Unity Parade inspires change
A memorable day for charities.
Nearly 20 NPOs and various other stakeholders took part in the Unity Parade on August 25.
The parade was the brain child of Lezanne Scholly-Hattingh and Nicolene van der Merwe who decided to showcase the NPOs in town who assist with various social challenges and needs of the community.
The services are rendered at no cost to the community and range from poverty alleviation, disability care, elderly care, family care, HIV care and substance abuse prevention, awareness and treatment.
Heidelberg’s Army Gymnasium, SAPS, CPF, Metro Police, local traffic department, emergency services and private security companies joined the event.
The organisers, with the help of their main sponsor Bayport Financial Services, hope to make this an annual event.
