Robbers target Property Professionals

At least two Heidelberg businesses fall victim to crime on the same day.

Four laptops and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from Property Professionals Heidelberg by a crew driving a silver Ford Fiesta.

According to Tania Pienaar (director) the culprits entered their premises in Maré Street at 10:30 when all the estate agents were out listing houses.

Pienaar’s mother in law Eunice (76) manned the phones while they were away and opened the security gate for a black man who was accompanied by an Indian woman.

While the woman distracted her, the man walked into the back offices where he grabbed the laptops and cash from handbags.

The third suspect remained in the vehicle.

It was only when the man asked to leave the building through the back door when Eunice became suspicious.

“I told them there is no back door and that they were not allowed in the offices,” said Pienaar.

She opened the front gate and the pair made a shift exit.

Meanwhile it is also suspected that the same crew struck a few minutes later at Ancient Days Antique shop in HF Verwoerd Street.

There they only managed to steal a cell phone.

The description of the suspects at both robberies are identical.

HERAUT has been informed of other similar robberies that took place in Heidelberg today. The details will be published as soon as we have confirmation from Heidelberg SAPS.
