Fresher Hyundai Palisade breaks cover
It is large, dynamic and beautiful and will provide the family and pets with an utterly comfortable and economical drive, whether they just venture a short trip into town or take the long road to an adventurous holiday destination.
Hyundai’s new Palisade now boasts a more modern and sharper exterior and interior design to, yet again, confirms its flagship SUV status.
The South African range consists of the seven-seater Palisade R2.2 Elite and the eight-seater Palisade R2.2 Elite – both equipped with Hyundai’s H-Trac all-wheel drive system and a frugal 2,2-litre turbodiesel engine delivers its power via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
It now boasts a new front and rear fascia, grille, headlamps and daytime running lights.
This design has aerodynamic benefits as well, with specific design cues that include a sharply angled A-pillar, rear spoiler side garnish, an optimised front cooling area with an extended internal air guide, aero underside panels, and rear wheel aero deflectors.
Interior
Among the new luxury features, you will find a new instrument panel, steering design, second row armrests and new seating surface and material.
The infotainment system and technological features have been thoroughly upgraded and includes, among other elements wireless charging, a 12-speaker Infinity sound system and a high definition infotainment display.
This is a big one: two Bluetooth devices can now be connected to the infotainment system at the same time.
The interior still presents a sense of sereneness and one-touch seat controls make moving seats forward or backwards easy and effortless.
USB-C outlets have been added for faster device charging throughout the interior, providing extra convenience for all passengers. Furthermore, a conversation mirror allows the driver to clearly see passengers in the rear.
Ultrasonic rear occupant alert monitors the rear seats to detect the movements of children and pets, reminding drivers to check the rear seats when exiting the vehicle. If the system detects movement in the rear seats after the driver leaves and locks the vehicle, it can sound the hooter and flash the headlights.
The system is designed to help prevent children and pets from being forgotten in the car, but it can also help in case children accidentally lock themselves in.
Powertrain
The Palisade is powered by a R2.2 turbocharged diesel engine that delivers 142kW and 440Nm and will surprise you with a fuel consumption index of 8.2 litres/100km. Power is directed to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic HTRAC four-wheel-drive system.
The driver can choose between different driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport and Smart drive.
New safety and convenience features
The new Palisade will delight you with, among other, forward collision avoidance assist, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, safe exit assist, driver fatigue detection and driver attention warning, high beam assist, smart cruise control, lane departure warning and lane following assist, highway driving assist, rear cross-traffic alert, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and reverse parking collision avoidance assist.
Both the seven-seater and eight-seater derivatives are priced at R1 099 900, inclusive of Hyundai’s seven-year/200 000km warranty (consisting of the five-year/150 000km manufacturer’s warranty, with a two-year/50 000km powertrain warranty extension).
