Toyota – market leadership par excellence

After posting yet another chart-topping sales month in November, Toyota is set to achieve 43 years of dominance.

Sales in both passenger and light commercial vehicle (LCV) segments totaled 13 903 units which render a 28.1% market share.

Hilux (3 048) once again scored the top podium, while the Hiace Ses’fikile sold 1 944 units.

The Corolla Cross sold 2 109 units putting it at the top for passenger vehicle sales. Lexus variants garnered a total of 56 sales. More than 1.5m parts pieces were supplied to domestic dealers while another 336 000 units were exported.

The National Association of Automotive Manufacturers of South Africa (naamsa) said November aggregate domestic new vehicle sales in November 2022 were 49 413 units and reflects an increase of 7 618 units versus November 2021.

Senior vice president of sales and marketing at TSAM, Leon Theron said, “The incredible loyalty shown by our customers over more than half a century has enabled us to achieve an outstanding share of the local market. We are thankful to our fleet owners and rental companies for their continued support in these trying economic times. We are also grateful to our dealer network, as well as all Toyota staff, for their sterling efforts in making Toyota such a competitive brand.”
