Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) responded to the call received at around 18h00.

DEMS Acting Spokesperson Eric Maloka said that there were explosions from the hardware as the fire was raging. “We had to use specialised equipment like the hydraulic platform, water tankers, and the major fire engines to fight this fire,” said Maloka.
Firefighters managed to get control within the hour but totally extinguished in at around 22h00. Residents are urged not to delay when there is fire but to contact the Ekurhuleni Life Threatening Call Centre on 011 458 0911.
