Mr Miller shares his unique blend of music

Jan Manthose (39), who performs under the stage name Mr Miller, is expanding his musical offering with the release of two new singles and an album.

More than 10 years in the music industry has taught Jan Manthose (39) from Thokoza, who performs under the stage name Mr Miller, many things.

This journey has influenced his new music, which he recently shared with Germiston audiences during a promotional tour.

“My music is a mix of house and qhom and features piano melodies,” said Manthose when he visited the GCN recently.

Manthose, who is originally from Limpopo, studied sound engineering and music after school, and though he now works as a salesman his passion never subsided.

“The street vibe in both Limpopo and Thokoza has influenced my music,” he said.

“This was the music I grew up listening to and feel most comfortable with.

“But with my music, I have taken this vibe and added some exciting new elements that people have never heard before and may not expect.”

Manthose performed at Elipse in the Germiston CBD and Sox Place in Buhle Park over the Valentine’s Day weekend, treating audiences to a taste of his new singles, Opakile and Grooviest Revolution.

“Opakile is a love song while Grooviest Revolution is something to groove to,” he explained.

These singles will be available for download on iTunes, Spotify and Deezer in March.

Manthose’s musical journey is far from finished for the year as he has challenged himself to record and release his first full album.

The album, titled Mobile Jukebox Volume 1, will be released in September.

“In the past I have only ever released singles,” Manthose explained.

“There is a lot of work involved in putting the album together and I am in studio almost every day.

“But I don’t mind, music is my life.

“I will even get out of bed in the early hours of the morning to go and do a recording, as soon as a melody or idea hits I have to explore it.”

Manthose can be found on Facebook by searching Mr MillerSA.
