Nataniël set to wow in new show

Theatre lovers are in for a special treat as Nataniël, talented South African musician and performer extraordinaire, makes his way to Emperors Palace to perform his latest enthralling creation, When Giants Waltz.

Nataniël’s 17th production will be presented as 12 unforgettable concerts from October 4 to 27 at the Theatre of Marcellus.

Aficionados can look forward to a spectacular production complete with his trademark stylistic lighting and jaw-dropping wardrobe selections, carefully crafted to complement the incredible stories that he shares in both English and Afrikaans.

Expect moving and fascinating insights into Nataniël’s unique perspective on the world as he boldly explores the state of the world today, from his personal life to politics and everything in-between.

Nataniël will delve into the age-old phenomenon of the big versus the small, the ever-present struggle between the indestructible and the threatened, the constant war between the individual and the establishment, and the tiring debate between the political and the intelligent.

“It gives us immense pride to welcome this legendary South African performer back to Emperors Palace – the home of local entertainment,” said Irvin Nkosi, the resort’s promotions and entertainment manager.

“From his beautiful blues and jazz numbers to his sensational costumes designed by the award-winning Floris Louw, this is one show that should not to be missed.”

Always fantastical, funny and unpredictable, Nataniël will share the stage with a talented and well-known cast of local artists, including Charl du Plessis on the keyboard, Juan Oosthuizen on guitar, Brendan Ross on keyboards, saxophone and vocals Werner Spies on bass, Peter Auret on the drums, and Dihan Slabbert and Nicolaas Swart on vocals.

Best known for his outspoken and bravely controversial performances – both on stage and off – Nataniël first appeared on the local entertainment scene in 1987, and has since built a wildly successful career as a singer, songwriter and storyteller.

Friday and Saturday night shows will start at 8pm, and the Sunday matinee shows will start at 3pm.

No children under the age of 15 will be permitted.
