The search is on for Ekurhuleni’s top gospel star

The search is on for a young, talented gospel star.

Is gospel music your first love?

Do you have stage presence and are you an Ekurhuleni resident between the ages of 18 and 30?

Then you might just be next in line to be crowned the best during the first All White Gospel Picnic’s music talent search.

The metro, in partnership with the All White Gospel Picnic festival organisers, will host a talent search at the Germiston Theatre in President Street, on September 26, from 8am, to unearth the next big gospel star.

The talent search is a precursor to the annual All White Gospel Picnic, which is a family-friendly outdoor celebration scheduled to take place on November 2 at Carnival City.

All non-recording gospel artists are called to come to audition for the All White Gospel star and stand a chance to win an opportunity of a lifetime, valued at R150 000.

The big prize will include studio-recording time, a music video and mentorship from industry leaders.

Ekurhuleni’s MMC for Community Services Clr Nomadlozi Nkosi said, “As a City we are excited by the opportunity afforded to our young people to showcase their talent on stage with the aim of assisting them to become the next big gospel sensation.

“We hope all eligible young people can take advantage of this amazing life-changing opportunity.”

The All White Gospel Music talent search judging panel will consist of the industry’s great acts, such as Zaza Mokheti, Kholeka Dubula, representatives from Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO), Composers, Authors and Publishers’ Association and Sheer Publishing.

“We are excited to partner with the City of Ekurhuleni to find the next big gospel star right here in our backyard.

“We cannot wait to see the raw talent Ekurhuleni residents have to offer.

“We are looking for someone who is dynamic, has stage presence and is appealing to all South Africans,” said Thulani Sicongwana, the festival organiser.
