DJ Liquidator to shake up the local party scene

DJ Liquidator brings charisma to the decks.

Self-proclaimed #TurnUpGod DJ Liquidator has set his sights on infiltrating the local party scene with his unique style of DJing.

Also known as Kgaogelo Maluleke, DJ Liquidator, from the Germiston CBD, started his music career in 2011 after the death of his friend, Jerry ‘DJ Maker’ Makhafula.

“Jerry motivated me to become a DJ,” said DJ Liquidator.

“I would help him set up his equipment and carry it to gigs, and he always thought I could make a lucrative career out of being a DJ, since I already had the personality of a DJ.

“Unfortunately, the year I began taking my craft seriously, he died a short illness, and never saw me in action.”

Before dropping out of Tshwane University of Technology in 2015, DJ Liquidator entered the Red Bull Campus Clash Competition.

Considered the ultimate DJ showdown, the winner of the competition would not only get bragging rights, but the opportunity to visit the Red Bull studios in Cape Town and learn about music production.

“The Red Bull Campus Clash Competition was one of the highlights of my career as it afforded me the opportunity to battle it out with other talented DJs from across South Africa, in which I bagged third place overall,” said DJ Liquidator.

“Through this opportunity, I met DJ Switch, who has been a good friend and mentor over the years.”

Following the campus clash third place win in Tshwane, DJ Liquidator added to his DJ profile by winning another credible competition in 2016, the Red Bull 3Style DJ Championships.

According to DJ Liquidator, the competition required contestants to showcase their mixing skills by merging three types of genres in one 15-minute set.

“I not only showcased my mixing skills on the decks by fusing afro jazz, RnB and house music, but I showed my ability to interact with the crowd during my set, and I think the judges loved that,” he said.

He went on to win sound equipment by Pioneer worth R100 000.

“By winning competitions and working with other artists you learn more about your craft.

“It helps you make connections across SA and learn the business side of the music industry,” he said.

He has since secured a residency on Tshwane FM and performed at big events such as the Spring Fiesta and the Metro FM Spring Jump Off.

DJ Liquidator is currently working on his upcoming single Tears of Betrayal, scheduled to be released on June 7.

“I want to leave a mark everywhere I go, I want the audience and club promoters to remember my set after every gig, my loud personality pierces through my sets and I love it,” he said.
