Modern dance meets traditional dance on Germiston Theatre stage

The Germiston Theatre hosted a spectacular dance production.

Up-and-coming talented young dancers from across the city left art lovers yearning for more after a two-hour scintillating performance during the Ingoma Music and Dance theatre production held at the Germiston Theatre, last Saturday.

The theatre, which was packed to the rafters, was treated to a rainbow of gumboot dance moves, well-choreographed pantsula dances, traditional dance and a cocktail of modern dance moves.

Legendary art guru Siphiwe Nkosi kept the audience laughing during his narration of the show.

Xolani Mthethwa, of Mazibuye Emasisweni art group, from Katlehong, couldn’t stop smiling after sharing the stage with some of the 58 cast members.

The show was written and directed by industry great John Lata.

“This has been a great learning curve for me.

“I have participated in a number of theatre productions over the years, but this one was different because while I was polishing my skills I got to learn many tricks of the trade from the legends, including discipline and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle so as to perform better on stage,” said Xolani.
