Hugh Masekela’s life and music celebrated

Emperors Palace, together with the Masekela Heritage Foundation, celebrated Hugh Masekela’s incredible life with the ultimate tribute show.

Hugh Ramapolo Masekela was a renowned South African trumpeter, flugelhornist, cornetist, composer and singer and has been described as the father of South African jazz. Emperors Palace, together with the Masekela Heritage Foundation, celebrated the star’s incredible life with the ultimate tribute show, recently.

COO of the Gauteng Gambling Board Edward Lalumbe and Peermont trustee Vusi Zwane were among the guests who attended the ultimate tribute show in honour of the legendary Hugh Masekela at Emperors Palace’s Centre Court. Bringing the sounds of Bra Hugh back to life were the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi, Sibongile Khumalo, Selema Writes, Cameron Ward and Bra Hugh’s full band from the past 10 years, iComplete.
