Comic and games convention comes to Emperors Palace

Emperors Palace to host ICON 2018.

Emperors Palace is proud to present ICON Comic and Games Convention (CGC), South Africa’s longest-running comics, gaming, cosplay and pop culture event.

The event will take place over three days from June 29 to July 1 at the Red Roman Shed.

ICON CGC is an annual event that has been running for the past 25 years, giving everyone from “hardcore geeks” to the “geek curious” a platform to gather, play and appreciate the latest advancements in pop geek culture.

The event also features a vast array of entertaining activities, including live action role-playing demonstrations and a comedy show guaranteed to have ICON goers in stitches.

“We are proud to be hosting an event of this calibre and international standing,” said Celesté-Anne Nicholas, group entertainment manager.

“It’s particularly special that we have the opportunity to be involved in this event this year, considering ICON 2018 will serve as the first World Cosplay Summit (WCS)) event on the African continent as of this year.”

Winners of the first WCS event will be flown to Nagoya City at the end of July to represent South Africa at the global event, where Cosplay winners from all five continents will battle it out for the title of World Cosplay champion.

Day and weekend passes, as well as VIP tickets are available for purchase from tixsa.
