New African song from Candy

To help deliver the message, she called in her boyfriend, Nonny D from Nigeria

Candy Tsamandebele has released a new African song featuring her Nigerian boyfriend.

Bolobedu-born and bred Candy Tsamandebele made a decision to write a song that surpasses the themes she normally tackles.

“The surprising moment also came while I was performing Mmalekutu, which references a very old traditional custom which insists that cousins marry each other in order to retain the wealth within the family,” said Candy.

She approached a well-known music producer and filmmaker from Nigeria, Dr Frank, to help her create the envisioned melody.

“I constantly listened to the arrangement, scrutinising and fine-tuning every little detail up until I was satisfied with the final product.

“This suited the type of direction I wanted to take on my upcoming album, to be released later this year,” Candy said.

To help deliver the message, she called in her boyfriend, Nonny D from Nigeria, and Siku ne siku was born.

“Siku ne siku paints a picture between two loving partners who were together for a while until the male partner decided to move on with his new lover,” Candy explained.

“Years later he decided to go back to his former lover. He pursues her endlessly.

“She sends him to her home to officiate traditionally.

“He emphasises that he will never leave her this time. He is in it for the long run.”
